WRITING CRITERIA for HUM 1210

The following are the essentials for writing in this class.  Please refer to this when writing any of the assignments. Writing is the best way to assess the subjective quality of the material.  Along with quizzes you will be writing papers.  Each paper will address a very specific subject.

a.      Margins – 1” top and bottom/left and right side

b.     Font size 12

c.     Write in the objective – this is to write in the third person – no “I” anything.  The only appropriate place to use “I” is in subjective responses.

d.     Double space

e.      Everything that is submitted must be typed

f.       Papers must be grammatically correct and well presented.  Grammatical, spelling and typographical errors reflect poorly on the writer.  Papers submitted with a plethora of errors will be evaluated accordingly.

g.     Always italicize titles.  This includes works of art, music titles, film titles, and plays.

h.     Do not use ALL CAPS when typing.

i.        Make a hard copy to keep for the term – just in case

j.        The Learning Center is located in C building.  Writing tutors are available. Please take advantage of this service that the college provides.

All labels should be single-spaced. The rest of the paper should be double-spaced. (You are only responsible for what is on the label. If it is not there, don’t include it.)

It will include:

Artist; nationality                                               Alexandre-Francois Desportes; French
