Catalog Description

This course is designed to expose students to a variety of technical communication skills. Topics include: computer skills, presentation skills, effective meetings, technical report, memo, and email writing.

Academic Outcomes

- Understand and Apply effective oral/written communication skills
- Utilize basic MS Word, Excel and Power Point presentation tools
- Organize and Oversee meetings
- Conduct and Facilitate technical discussions
- Create a resume and cover letter
- Prepare and Present a project review

 

Classroom Rules

- No food or drink in classroom
- Improper usage of the internet will result in an ‘E’ for the class
- No handouts will be given to absent students
- No late assignments will be accepted w/o doctor’s excuse
- No makeup tests will be allowed w/o doctor’s excuse
- Each student must sign ‘Honor Pledge’ after taking exam
- Anyone caught cheating will be given an ‘E’
- No cell phones or radios in classroom
- No foul language/disruptive behavior in classroom

 

Attendance

Attendance is expected by the student for each class.  If an absence or tardiness occurs, it is the responsibility of the student to obtain missed material.  You do not need to call if you will be absent or tardy.
