Course Description  Course MGMT-1010 - presents a framework for effective leadership styles and how it influences the make up of the workforce. The course will provide potential and practicing managers with:
  •  Knowledge of Management 
  •  Role of Management verses a Leader 
  •  Leadership/Management awareness of violence in workplace/appraisal/EEO 
  •  Trust 
Credit Hours: 3

Course Objectives  At the conclusion of the course the students will:
  •   Understand the basic components of management/leadership 
  •   Be able to identify steps in building high performance teams 
  •   Understand knowledge of management/leadership 
  •   Understand role of a manager/leader 
  •   Be able to participate in round-table discussions 
Text  The following text is required for the course:

Methodology 
  • Student involvement in exercises discussing leadership practices. 
  • Leadership simulation involving role-playing and case studies 
  • Total group discussions of cases, exercises, and videos introduced in class 
  •  Total group participation in round table discussion
 
Testing Procedure and Student Evaluation 
(percentage of grade noted) 
  • Type written analysis of 3 case studies submitted for discussion 

  • and resolution - week 4 / week 8 / week 16 (30%) 
  • Midterm Exam / Final Exam comprised of short answer, 

  • and/or essay questions (50%)
  • Class participation through questioning and discussion of all materials

  • presented. (Lack of attendance can effect participation points) (10%)
  • Quiz / Management & Human Resources (10%) 
  • Mandatory attendance roster at each class meeting
